Civic Response and ResourceTrust Network under the auspices of FAO – EU FLEGT Programme with funding from EU, Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and UKAid organised a validation workshop in Accra on 15th June, 2021. The workshop aimed at validating the VPA Impact Monitoring Survey Report.
The survey, which took place in March 2021, involved the collection of baseline data on household income, domestic market timber prices and Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) deliberative processes.
Ghana signed the VPA with the EU in 2009 and has since been developing the systems for the trade in legal timber in both the domestic and export markets with the ultimate aim of issuing FLEGT licenses as prove of the legality of the timber. This is under the auspices of the Forestry Commission (FC) and Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources (MLNR).
