Forests are at the core of Civic Response’s work. Under the Forest Governance programme we advocate for forest sector policy and regulatory reform based on community tenure, management and enterprise. We seek forest management systems that provide just, democratic and sustainable development at local and national levels.
In 2007, Civic Response mobilized beyond Forest Watch Ghana to create a “Contact Group” made up of sector stakeholders to engage with and keep oversight of the Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) negotiations. This resulted in civil society representation on all the technical and policy structures that informed Ghana’s negotiations positions.
